
Senior Estimator (Preconstruction)

We're partnered with an award-winning, employee-owned commercial General Contractor seeking a Senior Estimator to lead the estimating function during preconstruction.
This role is ideal for a detail-driven estimating leader who can manage multiple pursuits, deliver accurate estimates under tight timelines, and collaborate closely with operations, clients, and trade partners. You'll play a critical role in shaping project strategy, risk mitigation, and overall pursuit success.
What You'll Be Doing
Lead and manage Estimators, Assistant Estimators, Preconstruction Assistants, and Interns
Own the estimating and preconstruction process from early concept through final proposal
Review drawings, specifications, RFPs/RFQs, and construction documents; identify risks, gaps, and design concerns
Develop clear, accurate scope documents for all projects
Perform quantity take-offs, detailed estimates, cost analyses, and studies
Evaluate and level subcontractor and vendor proposals
Partner with Operations to develop and review detailed General Conditions / General Requirements (GC/GRs)
Lead value engineering efforts throughout preconstruction
Collaborate with marketing teams to ensure all RFP deliverables are complete and compliant
Build and strengthen subcontractor and vendor relationships
Develop and maintain historical cost data, unit pricing, and conceptual estimating tools
Estimate self-performed work scopes as required (concrete, demolition, framing, drywall)
Actively participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, post-bid interviews, and client presentations
What We're Looking For
10+ years of preconstruction estimating experience with a General Contractor
Strong background in commercial ground-up and renovation construction
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Building Construction, or a related discipline
Deep understanding of construction systems, materials, market conditions, and trade practices
Ability to produce conceptual estimates with limited information
Strong analytical, qualitative, and quantitative review skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, OST, and bid communication tools
Familiarity with Procore is a plus
