
Overview
The Purchasing Agent plays a vital role in maintaining efficient supply chain operations. Working under the direction of the Supply Chain Manager, this position is responsible for sourcing and negotiating prices for parts, materials, equipment, and shop supplies. The role involves preparing and verifying RFQs/POs, maintaining organized procurement schedules, and ensuring optimal inventory levels to support manufacturing operations. Position Details
Department: Supply Chain Reports To: Supply Chain Manager Location: On-site, Beaumont Type: Full-Time Travel Required: 0% Compensation: $18-$28/hr. Primary Responsibilities
Source, evaluate, and negotiate with vendors to secure optimal pricing and delivery terms for parts, materials, equipment, and supplies while maintaining quality standards Develop and maintain comprehensive procurement schedules, including preparing RFQs/POs and tracking deliveries from initiation to completion Analyze and forecast current and future inventory needs, implementing strategies to prevent stockouts while optimizing inventory levels Build and nurture vendor relationships while holding suppliers accountable for meeting target deadlines, pricing agreements, and quality standards Monitor supply chain costs and prepare detailed analyses of planning and logistical data to identify trends and improvement opportunities Resolve shipment discrepancies, manage returns, and coordinate with suppliers to ensure minimal disruption to operations Maintain accurate and accessible documentation of all procurement activities, vendor communications, and supply chain metrics Research and recommend alternative sourcing options to reduce costs and mitigate supply chain risks Participate in educational opportunities for continuous learning. Required Skills/Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred 0-2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain operations (Open to more experienced candidates) Highly Motivated Excellent Communication and Customer Service Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/MRP systems Understanding of Manufacturing Methods, procedures, and Quality Control Demonstrated experience in cost analysis and vendor negotiation Database knowledge and documentation skills Personal Attributes
