
ZAPATA is a full-service architecture and engineering company with operations throughout the Continental United States and Pacific in support of Department of War, Federal government, and private sector clients. The Company is seeking an experienced Director of Finance to work out of the Charlotte, NC office.
Position Summary: The Director of Finance provides strategic and operational leadership for the company’s financial, accounting, and selected HR-related financial functions. This role oversees financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and financial aspects of employee benefits including 401(k) and insurance programs.
Responsibilities / Duties:
Serve as a strategic financial advisor to executive leadership
Collaborate with other departments to support Company initiatives
Manage business insurances for Company
Manages all treasury functions for Company
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
Oversee accounting operations and ensure GAAP, FAR, CAS, and DCAA compliance
Direct project accounting and financial performance analysis
Review preparation of incurred cost submissions and indirect rates
Oversee audits and regulatory inquiries
Oversee tax planning and compliance
Manage financial aspects of 401(k) and employee benefit programs
Partner with HR on benefits budgeting, renewals, and payroll coordination
Lead and develop the finance and accounting team
Drive process improvements and internal controls
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
CPA strongly preferred
Comprehensive and working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Internal Revenue Code (IRC), organizational auditing, fixed asset accounting, and tax filing requirements
Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA), Department of War (DoW) compliance experience and reporting preferred
20+ years of senior financial leadership experience
Government contracting and Federal compliance expertise
Experience with employee benefits financial administration
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to build relationships both within the Company as well as third parties
Ability to analyze issues and suggest solutions, and see obstacles through to resolution
Work independently with limited oversight, and must be detail-oriented and organized
Must demonstrate a high level of integrity
