Job Description Job Title: Technical Writer III (Digital Accessibility & Compliance)

Position Overview

An enterprise technology services organization is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to support initiatives focused on reviewing, remediating, and maintaining published documents and web content in compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and applicable organizational policies.

This role partners closely with business leaders and cross-functional teams to establish sustainable best practices for digital accessibility, drive remediation efforts, and enable long-term compliance through training and governance. The Technical Writer III will serve as both a content expert and accessibility advocate, helping ensure that public-facing and internal materials meet accessibility standards while remaining clear, accurate, and user-focused.

The position includes regular stakeholder collaboration to track progress, remove obstacles, and prioritize work. The role works closely with web administrators, digital teams, forms analysts, and accessibility review groups to ensure timely and consistent compliance across platforms.

Job Scope & Responsibilities

Review, update, and maintain documents and web-published content to meet WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and internal policies. Establish and document best practices for ongoing accessibility compliance across published materials and web content. Lead remediation efforts to address identified accessibility gaps, prioritizing work based on risk, impact, and organizational needs. Collaborate with business managers and cross-functional teams in recurring planning and status meetings to track progress, remove barriers, and align priorities. Partner with web administrators, digital content teams, forms analysts, and accessibility review teams to ensure coordinated and timely delivery. Produce high-quality technical content, including operational documentation, reports, guidance materials, and web content that supports business operations and communications. Train program and business staff on accessibility best practices, tools, and standards to support long-term compliance. Develop, enhance, and maintain user and technical documentation for multiple applications and platforms. Create and manage documentation libraries, templates, and version-controlled repositories to ensure consistency and proper access. Ensure terminology, formatting, and messaging remain consistent across all written materials. Research and fulfill documentation service requests while providing accurate status updates and time reporting. Compose and edit a wide range of technical materials, including manuals, bulletins, publications, training materials, and special reports. Coordinate with designers and stakeholders on document layout, graphics, and accessibility-compliant formatting. Support publication efforts, including review, editing, and preparation of materials for digital release or public distribution. Mentor or guide other contributors in documentation standards, accessibility practices, and quality expectations as needed. Requirements

At least 4 years of professional experience

as a technical writer producing documentation and web content for business or technical audiences. A minimum of 2 years of experience

reviewing existing documentation against defined standards, documenting accessibility gaps, and prioritizing remediation efforts. At least 1 year of experience

leading or mentoring teams in the implementation of documentation standards, including development and delivery of related training materials. A minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience

working on projects with a dedicated focus on

ADA and WCAG 2.1 AA compliance . At least 1 year of experience

using accessibility tools commonly associated with technical writing, such as Microsoft Office accessibility checkers, Adobe accessibility tools, or equivalent platforms. Demonstrated knowledge of accessibility guidelines, digital content standards, and usability principles. Strong ability to organize complex information and present it clearly in a logical, user-focused structure. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment. Experience managing multiple documentation efforts simultaneously while meeting quality and compliance standards.
