
Position Summary
Optomi, in partnership with a leading organization, is looking for a Junior Project Manager to help support strategic IT governance and project execution. The Junior IT Portfolio Manager is an entry-to-mid level role for a highly organized professional looking to transition from project coordination into strategic IT governance. In this role, you will support the planning, execution, and delivery of projects across the organization. Working under the guidance of senior project managers, you will help coordinate teams, manage schedules, track deliverables, and communicate progress to stakeholders. This role also involves tracking the health, spend, and status of technology initiatives, ensuring project management tools are accurate, and providing stakeholders with the visibility they need to make informed decisions. Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related field. 0–2 years of experience in project coordination, business analysis, or related roles. Familiarity with project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.). Proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs) and familiarity with PPM tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, and ServiceNow). Strong organizational and time management skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. What the responsibilities are of the right candidate:
Assist in the development of project plans, timelines, and budgets. Help business units complete "Business Case" templates and gather initial cost estimates. Coordinate project activities, resources, equipment, and information. Monitor project progress, prepare status reports, and elevate issues as needed. Track risks and issues and help ensure resolution in a timely manner. Maintain the "Portfolio Playbook," documenting workflows and standards for project management. Compile weekly and monthly portfolio status reports and create visualizations that highlight project health. Support financial tracking, including invoices and project budgets. Coordinate Portfolio Steering Committee meetings, including preparing agendas and documenting key decisions. This role is a stepping stone toward becoming a Senior Portfolio Manager or a Program Manager, offering exposure to executive decision-making, IT financial management, and strategic resource planning.
