WFYI’s Director of Human Resources manages and oversees WFYI’s human resources functions, including management of the HR department and its employees. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

WFYI’s Human Resource (HR) team members, including WFYI’s Director of Human Resources, share essential functions and responsibilities based on available staffing, workload, expertise, and organizational needs. WFYI’s Director of Human Resources should expect to be responsible for hands-on participation in daily HR tasks, in addition to their management and oversight functions. Talent Acquisition & Retention: Manages and oversees WFYI’s employee lifecycle phase, including recruitment, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, offboarding, internships, development/training, performance management, employment engagement and employment relations Develops, recommends and implements programs and systems related to competitive compensation strategies, HR benchmarks, performance evaluation tools, and professional development Employee Relations & Culture: Develops, recommends and implements programs and systems that Ensure consistent application of WFYI’s culture and core values, creating a positive, inclusive, engaged workplace Ensure employee relations, employee engagement and employee conflict resolution needs are timely managed and accurately address concerns and needs Partners with WFYI’s management to align HR practices with organizational objectives, foster a positive workplace culture, and drive talent acquisition, retention, and engagement Manages and oversees employee HR requests, inquiries, and communications, ensuring prompt, accurate and professional responses Promotes collaboration, compliance, and effective communication in all union-related HR functions Serves as the primary liaison between management and union representatives by Facilitating requests, inquiries, and communication from union representatives, ensuring prompt, accurate and professional responses Supporting collective bargaining negotiations by coordinating meetings, preparing documentation, and ensuring timely and accurate communication between all parties Supporting dispute resolution processes, including managing and responding to grievances in a manner ensuring compliance with established grievance procedures Act as a key point of contact between management and bargaining unit employees by Addressing and resolving compliance issues related to collective bargaining obligations, including monitoring adherence to contract provisions, collaborating with WFYI’s legal support team and outside counsel, and ensuring compliance with all relevant labor laws and regulatory requirements Fostering collaborative relationships between management and bargaining unit employees by promoting transparency, open communication, and mutual understanding throughout all HR processes Implementing and administering collective bargaining agreements, providing guidance to management and employees to ensure consistent application of contract terms, workplace policies, and procedures Timely and accurate payroll and benefit processing and administration, includes related payroll tax filings, annual enrollment processing and meeting reporting requirements related to WFYI’s 403b plan Manages and oversees WFYI’s benefit programs, including group health, life and disability benefits and leave benefits Ensures fair and timely handling of accommodation, disability and leave management requests, including ensuring organizational policies are followed and accurate compliant records are kept HROperations: Manages and oversees WFYI’s HR department, including management of HR employees Manages and oversees internal and external HR requests, inquiries, and communications, ensuring prompt, accurate and professional responses, includes organizational communications related to HR matters Develops, recommends and implements HR best practices to support organizational growth and positive performance Manages and oversees HR related policies and procedures, including Ongoing responsibilities of developing, recommending and implementing policy and procedure updates Coaching and development of managers to ensure consistent application of HR policies and procedures Leverages HR data, workforce analytics, and trends to provide management tools for strategic planning and decision-making, includes development and presentation of informative HR reports Manages and oversees various external HR related vendors and brokers Supports organizational change management initiatives Collaborates with WFYI’s legal counsel & internal legal team during employment-related disputes, investigations, or lawsuits, responsibilities include Gathering and preserving relevant documentation Providing detailed accounts of HR policies and practices Serving as a subject matter expert regarding WFYI HR policies and procedures Compliance and Risk Mitigation: Acts as a trusted advisor to WFYI’s executive leadership team providing advice on the implications of organizational decisions that have legal implications, such as organizational restructuring Ensures WFYI’s HR actions are well-documented and legally compliant Ensures the organization adheres to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including Collecting, preparing and submitting human resource information needed to comply with specific government and grant-related reporting requirements (eg, EEOC, HIPAA, OSHA, EPA, ADA, FCC, IRS, etc.) Partnering with others in the organization as necessary to provide accurate, consistent and timely responses to federal/state/local regulatory agencies and benefit providers (eg, IWD, EEOC, DOL, WC Audits) Stays Informed and informs WFYI’s CEO and CFO of any known or suspected compliance violations related to WFYI policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations Performs all other duties as assigned EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience unless otherwise noted Required: Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field Five or more years of progressively responsible HR professional experience And/or equivalent experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the essential job functions and responsibilities of this position Highly Desirable: Master’s degree in human resources or related field Ten or more years of progressively responsible HR professional experience Experience in payroll or benefit administration, and related vendor management SHRM-SCP/SHRM-CP or PHR/SPHR designation KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
