Assistant Director of Human Resources should have HR generalist knowledge, and be versed in the areas of benefits, workforce planning, recruitment and staffing strategies, wage and salary administration, associate and labor relations and workforce training and development. This highly visible role assists in short and long term planning of the HR function and is heavily involved in executing the HR initiatives. Hyatt develops Assistant Directors to progress into the role of a Human Resource Director. The Human Resources function prides itself on excellence, service, integrity and accountability.

What You\'ll Do:

HR Leadership & Team Oversight

Collaborate with the Director of Human Resources to lead and oversee the Human Resources team

Provide direct supervision, coaching, and performance management for the Recruiting Manager and HR Coordinator

Assign priorities, manage workloads, and ensure accountability across HR functions

Ensure consistency in HR policies, documentation, and communication

Serve as acting HR leader in the absence of the Director of Human Resources

Employee Relations & Workplace Culture

Serve as a primary point of contact for employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, performance management, and policy interpretation

Conduct and oversee workplace investigations, ensuring timely, fair, and compliant outcomes

Partner with hotel leadership to address engagement, retention, and culture initiatives

Guide leaders through corrective action and documentation processes

Leave Administration, Workers\' Compensation & ADA Compliance

Maintain direct oversight and administration of all leaves of absence, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, and applicable state and local leave programs

Manage the interactive process for ADA accommodations, ensuring documentation, timelines, and compliance requirements are met

Oversee all workers\' compensation claims, including incident reporting, claim coordination, return-to-work programs, and communication with adjusters, medical providers, and leadership

Monitor claim activity, identify trends, and proactively address issues to minimize disruption and risk

Serve as the primary liaison with insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and corporate partners for LOA and workers\' compensation matters

Recruitment & Talent Support

Oversee recruitment operations in collaboration with the Recruiting Manager to meet staffing and workforce planning needs

Ensure compliance with hiring practices, onboarding, and employment documentation

Review recruiting metrics and address process gaps with Recruiting Manager

Payroll, Benefits & HR Operations

Support payroll processing, audits, and timekeeping compliance

Assist with benefits administration, employee inquiries, and open enrollment

Ensure accuracy and confidentiality of employee records and HRIS data

Support HR audits, reporting, and process improvements

Training & Performance Development

Support onboarding, orientation, compliance training, and leadership development initiatives

Assist with performance management cycles and coaching efforts

Partner with leaders to identify training needs

Qualifications

Bachelor\'s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or related field preferred
