Responsibilities

  • Correctly prepare all drugs and chemicals.
  • Ensure compliance with standards of The Joint Commission, CMS and other regulatory bodies.
  • Manage and administer the Adverse Drug Reaction Program.
  • Develop and participate in new employee training and education programs.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs related to drug utilization and effectiveness.
  • Participate in patient drug therapy monitoring.
  • Develop at least one clinically oriented program per year (e.g., Pharmacokinetic Dosing Service, Patient Counseling, Pain Management Services, or Nutritional Support Service).
  • Promote an environment of continuous quality improvement.
  • Teach and counsel patients and their families.

Minimum Requirements

  • Successfully complete all educational requirements for state licensure.
  • Have a minimum of three (3) years of hospital experience within the last five years.
  • Have BLS certification if required by state.
  • Maintain a current license in the state of practice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pharm D or BS Pharm plus advanced degree or completion of hospital pharmacy residency.
  • At least one year in a managerial role.
  • Board Certification and/or residency.
