General Statement of Duties Seasonal parks and field staff assist with general landscaping of city parks and athletic fields plus related work assignments under the supervision of full-time Parks and Recreation Department Staff.
Job Responsibilities
Groundskeeping functions, including mowing, weeding, trimming, mulching, edging, and other landscaping duties in city parks and on public grounds
Attend the Sunny Lake Park Boathouse, including renting boats and equipment, selling concessions, cleaning park restrooms and ensuring the safety of all visitors
Attend the Kiwanis-Moore Park Snack Shack, including selling concessions, cleaning park restrooms, monitoring Aurora Splash Pad and other park amenities, and ensuring the safety of all visitors
Operate and maintain light vehicles, large mowers, equipment, and landscaping tools
Maintenance of athletic fields
Assist with special city‑wide events
Weekend and holiday work required
Other tasks as assigned
Personal Protective Equipment will be provided and must be used as directed
Required Knowledge, Skill, and Ability General knowledge of landscaping and equipment operation preferred; ability to work independently; ability to work with the public; good judgment; prompt and reliable attendance. Must be able to physically operate equipment and complete duties in a safe manner.
Acceptable Experience or Training Must possess a valid Ohio Driver’s licence with a safe driving record. Must have completed a minimum of a 10th grade education with one (1) year experience in landscaping or grounds maintenance; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Additional Requirements for Applicants Under 18 If you are under the age of 18, a Parental Authorization Form will need to be completed by a parent or legal guardian before you can commence working for the City of Aurora.
