The Career Success and Workforce Development Center is seeking a student worker to support department events. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in the planning and execution of events, maintaining accurate documentation, and conducting research to enhance departmental initiatives. This position offers hands‑on experience in event coordination, administrative tasks, and data management within a dynamic educational environment.
Reports To Director of Career Services and Workforce Development
Current OCCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours for the Fall OR Spring semester OR enrolled in a minimum of 3 credit hours for the Summer semester · OR · Current OCCC student with a Federal Work Study award.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Above average written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
Dependability, eye for detail and responsible nature to see things through to completion.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions 1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Sedentary work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 10 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES : This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to students, administration, staff, faculty, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations. This position frequently requires the person to operate a computer and other office equipment to perform the essential functions of the position. This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that involves repetitive motions of hands and wrists. This position requires the person to perceive attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
3. VISUAL ACUITY : This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.
4. WORKING CONDITIONS : This position performs the essential functions in an indoor, office setting.
Preferred Qualifications Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Required Training Quarterly compliance training as assigned by institution
Work Hours As needed or assigned not to exceed 25 hours per week, anytime between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday
Job Duties
Assist in organizing and implementing career fairs, workshops, forums, Lunch & Learns, employer visits, and other student and business‑related engagement events.
Coordinate logistics, including venue setup, material preparation, and on‑site support during events.
Collaborate with staff to develop event timelines and checklists.
Work with the marketing department to create marketing materials needed.
Create and maintain spreadsheets for event tracking, employer contacts, and student participation.
Draft and edit documents such as marketing emails, flyers, posters and promotional materials.
Manage digital and physical filing systems to ensure organized record‑keeping.
Set student, staff and faculty appointments with the director.
Conduct research on industry trends, employer outreach opportunities, and best practices in career services.
Compile data to support program development and assessment.
Create a system to track student engagement with department.
Serve as a point of contact for students and employers, providing information and assistance as needed.
Respond to inquiries via phone, email, and in‑person interactions in a professional manner.
Additional duties as needed to support the director.

Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures.
Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.
Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.
Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC’s established safety and health procedures and practices.
Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
