This is a full-time, campus-based position. Announcement Information Job Summary A key contributor in a highly collaborative, creative, and collegial work environment, the Video and Multimedia Producer is a visual storyteller who creates compelling video, photo, and social media content to support the strategic, operational, and communications goals of Oberlin College and Conservatory. Responsibilities The producer plays a central role in capturing and conveying the vibrancy of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music by producing videos that showcase performances, faculty, students, and programs, and by elevating the institution’s reputation through high-quality digital storytelling. This position also manages freelance photography, maintains Oberlin’s digital asset management ( DAM ) system, and contributes to visual and social media content strategy. The producer works closely with the Video Producer, Social Media Producer, and colleagues across the Office of Communications to ensure a cohesive and engaging multimedia presence for Oberlin College and Conservatory. Essential Job Functions Produce, direct, shoot, and edit video content from concept to completion for use across Oberlin’s digital platforms, including YouTube, Vimeo, oberlin.edu, and official social media channels (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.). Plan and produce video and multimedia content for the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, including:
Performance recordings, artist features, faculty and student profiles, and promotional materials for concerts, recitals, and ensembles. Behind-the-scenes and short-form social media videos that highlight the Conservatory’s culture, creativity, and artistry. Collaborative projects with Conservatory faculty, staff, and students to promote key programs, events, and initiatives.
Collaborate closely with the Video Producer and social media team to develop integrated multimedia campaigns aligned with institutional marketing and storytelling goals. Develop short-form, platform-optimized videos and visuals for social media to enhance audience engagement and extend reach. Partner with the Social Media Producer to analyze performance metrics and adapt strategies for maximizing impact across digital platforms. Ensure all videos meet ADA accessibility standards, including captioning and subtitling. Contribute to Oberlin’s YouTube, Vimeo, Flickr, and other multimedia channels. Ensure photo assets are uploaded to and properly tagged within Oberlin’s digital asset management ( DAM ) system for easy access by Communications staff and campus partners. Coordinate Oberlin’s preferred photographer vendor list and contracting process. Hire and manage freelance photographers and videographers for print, digital, and Conservatory-related projects. Supervise and mentor student employees assisting with video production, photography, social media content creation, and digital asset management. Manage and maintain video and photo equipment for the Office of Communications. Monitor and analyze multimedia and social media engagement metrics to inform creative direction and storytelling approaches. Marginal Job Functions
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in video production, multimedia, communications, or a related field. Minimum of two years of professional experience in film, video, or multimedia content production. Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Lightroom). Experience producing video and photo content optimized for social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, etc.). Strong understanding of storytelling, composition, and visual narrative techniques. Knowledge of digital video formats, codecs, and best practices for web and social optimization. Excellent organizational, planning, project management, and creative problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse range of campus partners, including Conservatory musicians, faculty, and students. Desired Qualifications
Experience in a higher education or nonprofit communications environment. Familiarity with music and the performing arts, and the ability to visually communicate artistic expression effectively. Experience with live performance videography, multi-camera setups, and concert documentation. Familiarity with social media management and analytics tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite). Experience with drone videography and/or time-lapse videography. Broad interests including an appreciation for music, performing arts, athletics, science, and the humanities.
