About the Role
As a Senior Mechanical/Structures Designer, you will lead the design and development of major components, subsystems, and complex structural assemblies. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams to create high-quality, manufacturable designs that meet engineering, performance, and cost objectives. This role requires deep expertise in structural design, CAD modeling, and tolerance management, along with the ability to drive design decisions from concept through production.
Responsibilities
Design major components and subsystems, including advanced prototypes and production-ready structures. Develop and enhance products while supporting efficient manufacturing operations. Produce foundational design artifacts such as sketches, preliminary layouts, and technical notes to communicate design intent. Evaluate key design factors including manufacturability, material availability, equipment constraints, interchangeability, weight and strength optimization, cost, and compliance. Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and other teams to ensure alignment throughout the design lifecycle. Create detailed layouts, assemblies, and part drawings for mechanisms, devices, and structural components. Review and validate drawings for completeness, accuracy, compliance with engineering standards, and proper dimensioning. Identify design issues, inconsistencies, or gaps; recommend and implement improvements. Perform tolerance analyses, trade studies, and adherence to ASME Y14.5 GD&T requirements. Minimum Qualifications
6+ years of experience in structural design
. 4-6 years of experience with CATIA (3D design software)
. 4-6 years of experience with 3Dx (data management tools)
. 4-6 years of experience applying Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
. 4-6 years of part tolerancing experience
. 4-6 years of design experience
including: Primary & secondary structures Component layout Tolerance studies ASME Y14.5 GTOL Trade studies
