Founded in 2016, Verkada has expanded rapidly with 15 offices and 2,200+ full-time employees.About the RoleWe're looking for an experienced individual who can build and nurture customer relationships with some of our largest and most strategic customers with the ultimate goal of creating a "rolodex" of 50-100 contacts that we can tap into to support webinars, written case studies, videos, our corporate podcast, in-person events, and other advocacy activities. This isn't a traditional customer marketing role focused solely on writing case studies. Instead, you'll be proactively networking with both internal sales reps as well as customers to identify accounts with exciting stories to tell across a wide variety of industries, from manufacturing, to retail, to education, to cities. You'll obtain introductions to key contacts in IT, physical security, legal, and communications, get to know them personally, and work with them to build a plan for how to showcase their organization publicly as an innovative, early adopter of industry-leading physical security technology – in a way that benefits their business and public image. In addition, you'll work closely with internal cross functional teams, including Verkada's communications, creative, and product marketing teams, to build materials (in the form of written overviews, videos, slide content, and more) to tell these stories. This role reports into the VP of Product Marketing. We are committed to a thriving in-office culture. This role requires that you be on-site at our office in San Mateo, CA 5 days a week.What You'll DoAs the Customer Marketing Manager, you will:Work with sales to identify customers whose use of Verkada has transformed their organization in terms of physical safety and/or operational performanceBuild meaningful, ongoing relationships with contacts across these customers who would be willing to participate authentically in advocacy activities on an ad hoc basisWork closely with IT/physical security as well as communications and legal teams at the customer to craft a narrative that positions them as innovative and forward thinking adopters of physical security technology - one they would be excited to share publicly Write 4-5 external-facing customer stories per quarter as well as develop internal "win-wire" materials for sales enablementBuild and maintain an internal repository of publicly referenceable customer logos and metricsWork closely with our creative team to build a detailed storyboard for 1-2 video case studies per quarterPartner with our webinars and field events leads to proactively suggest customers who can be featured in webinars and in live speaking engagementsPartner with creative, communications, and demand generation teams to build assets and amplify our customer stories across both organic and paid channelsWhat You Bring5-8+ years of experience in customer marketing, journalism, or a similar background that combines strong relationship building skills with the ability to conduct in-depth interviews and synthesize insightsExcellent writing and editing skills with an eye for brand tone, clarity, and consistencyExperience proactively building relationships with technical executives and business leaders; not shy to reach out and make introductionsAbility to quickly get past the surface level story and to ask the questions necessary to understand the deeper business impact of a product or serviceDemonstrated comfort with working with technical concepts and productsCollaborative approach working cross-functionally with communications, sales, and broader marketing teamsMust be willing and able to commute 5 days in office.A plus but not strictly required:Track record of building a robust customer advisory board (CAB) Employee BenefitsVerkada is committed to fostering a workplace environment that prioritizes the holistic health and wellbeing of our employees and their families by offering comprehensive wellness perks, benefits, and resources. With that in mind, we carefully consider a number of factors to determine the appropriate starting pay for an employee, including their primary work location and an assessment of a candidate's skills and experience, as well as market demands and internal parity.
