Job Summary: The Assistant Director of Finance is responsible for supporting all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, cash management, forecasting, financial reporting, compliance and M&A activities for Helix subsidiaries located in the southern region. This role ensures the integrity of financial information and supports strategic decision-making by providing accurate and timely financial insights. The Assistant Director supports and collaborates with the operational teams to improve financial performance and operational efficiency. The Assistant Director also assists in developing financial goals and metrics for the southern region. The role will report directly to the Director of Finance.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Operations:
Oversee day-to-day accounting functions
General ledger Accounts payable/receivable Fixed assets Cash management
Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to meet deadlines
Reconciliation - work with staff on maintaining monthly reconciliation
Monitor consolidated activities and reporting to support operational needs and growth initiatives
Working capital Cash flow Liquidity
Partner with regional leaders in reporting and budgeting activities Assist with year-end audits Team Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance and accounting team Promote a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement Conduct performance reviews and provide training and development Systems & Process Improvement
Provide strategic input and implementation support for new financial technologies or ERP systems Be a change agent Qualifications:
8+ years of experience in Accounting, Finance, or related field Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills Strong knowledge of data analysis and visualization fundamentals Strategic mindset with a rigorous attention to detail Ability to translate complex financial concepts into clear, concise, and actionable insights Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment People leadership experience preferred Ability to travel up to 50% depending on the needs of the business Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business required MBA / Masters in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred Certified Public Accounting license preferred
