The International Ocean Freight Coordinator is essential in guaranteeing the efficient and compliant management of international ocean freight shipments. This dynamic role oversees the entire export process, ensuring timely communication with carriers and customers while supporting internal teams to maintain uninterrupted freight movement. To excel in this position, candidates must demonstrate keen attention to detail, a solid understanding of global logistics documentation, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced operational environment. This position is responsible for tracking shipment milestones, addressing delays, and ensuring compliance with export regulations and organizational procedures. Key Responsibilities: Oversee and track ocean freight shipments from origin to destination, ensuring prompt cargo movement. Engage with carriers, freight forwarders, vendors, and customers to confirm bookings, schedules, and necessary documentation. Prepare and process all export documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and compliance materials. Monitor shipment milestones within internal systems, providing timely and accurate updates to stakeholders. Ensure adherence to international shipping laws, export controls, Incoterms, and company policies. Identify and resolve issues related to delays, equipment, documentation discrepancies, or cargo exceptions. Collaborate with internal teams to enhance workflows, minimize costs, and boost operational consistency. Maintain comprehensive records of shipments, carrier performance, metrics, and documentation archives. Coordinate with carriers to secure bookings, obtain sailing schedules, and ensure equipment availability. Assist with rate requests, cost validations, and identify opportunities for process improvements. Perform additional duties as assigned to meet evolving business needs. Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or GED is required. Certifications: Hazmat certification preferred. Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years in international logistics and ocean export. Knowledge: Strong understanding of ocean freight processes, export documentation, and carrier coordination. Familiarity with Incoterms and export compliance procedures. Proficiency in CargoWise (TMS) is preferred. Demonstrated abilities in problem-solving, organization, and time management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality. Technical Skills: Proficient with Microsoft O365 and common office technologies. Work Environment: Must be comfortable commuting and working onsite, with travel for meetings/events.
