The Outside Parts Sales Representative solicits parts business from assigned and individually gained accounts and territories through in-person, email and phone communication. Duties and Responsibilities
General: Prospect for new customers and manage customer database, utilize RPM system, RigDig, Safersys, and county association memberships. Participate in company functions for customer development. Act as a public relations liaison for the dealership. Follow up on parts orders to ensure that customers have been served properly. Participate in local functions, i.e. picnics, golf outings, boat rides, etc. Assist in front/back counter parts functions when needed, possible Saturday morning. Provide new/used truck sales leads to the truck sales department. Ordering Procedures Subject to change based on experience with CDK & DTNA, laptop option available to look up parts and invoice on site. Communicate parts orders to counter people via email. Advise whether status is stock or emergency. If an emergency, the counter person will check and advise on availability. Utilize the in-house DMS System as well, CDK, to investigate and process orders. Advise counter person on delivery instructions and/or Parts Manager to coordinate delivery. Verify with customers if the delivery date of non-stock items is acceptable with all customers before ordering. Follows through with customer care issues, i.e. credits due and cores, Excelerator, etc. Any customer returns must have signed pickup receipt attached to parts or cores. If clean reman exchange, receipt must state. Other Prepare weekly call logs. Manage call logs in Microsoft Excel. Identify any pending issues with customers. Successfully sign up customers with Excelerator Parts and assist with training and support issues. Keep abreast of DTNA Communications on parts & service side and communicate information to customers. Each month, turn in expense reports to Sydney or Amanda. Understand CDK pricing matrixes and flexibility options. Review any special orders with the Parts Manager and obtain his/her/approval. Obtain Parts Manager Approval for any special pricing. Attend training seminars when available. Participate in Freightliner Parts Academy programs. Understand BAT-I CDK system, obtain skills to create part invoices and look up inventory. Advise Accounting & Finance Manager of changes in customer’s names, address, etc. Participate in development of parts flyers, specials and advertising materials. Understand other parts-related programs, i.e. Fleet guard Filter Rebates, Penske brake program, etc. Be aware of available industry websites. Read in a timely manner all E-bulletins and discuss opportunities. Research and suggest better buying opportunities. Entertain new business opportunities with existing customer base. Assist and help with development and changes in the Retail Parts Area.
