About the Role

The Company is seeking an Executive Director of Development for its Libraries. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a comprehensive program of institutional advancement, including the development and execution of multi-year strategic plans, managing staff and budgets, and maintaining data to support strategic planning. This role involves overseeing a broad-based annual giving program, organizing development events, and coordinating a robust calendar of engagement activities. The Executive Director will also be tasked with cultivating and stewarding major gifts, engaging with the Libraries' Board of Advisors, and expanding the fundraising pool through entrepreneurial prospecting. Strong management, communication, and relationship-building skills are essential, as is the ability to work both independently and within a centralized framework for fundraising.

Applicants for the Executive Director of Development position at the company's Libraries should have a Bachelor of Science degree and 7-10 years' of successful fundraising and leadership experience, with a preference for a Master's degree. A proven track record in securing six and seven-figure gifts and a deep understanding of the role and mission of academic research libraries are required. The ideal candidate will have strong management and program administration skills, the ability to establish and achieve fundraising goals, and experience in working with volunteers. The role demands a high level of motivation, the capacity for hard work, and the ability to inspire and lead a team.
