Technical Sales Intern Responsibilities
Technical Consulting and Sales Support Learns to identify customer's business needs, challenges, and technical requirements May analyze situations and data on problems of basic to moderate scope Applies defined technical processes and procedures to develop solutions under close supervision, receives guidance on more complex issues Provides basic, often scripted support for customer meetings and tours which may advance to less standard scenarios Solution Design and Deliverables Provides some technical sales support to all assigned Sales account executives Follow standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained Exercises limited judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate solutions Assists in and/or coordinates RFI/P/Q preparation as requested by Sales Representatives Develops or assist with portions of deliverables for the customer with extensive oversight and direct from Sales Engineering Management and/or peers Customer Service Communicates verbally and in writing with customers (internal and external) under close supervision, coaching and guidance Coordinates portions of pre-sale support for all company products and services Learns to provide basic technical support in sales presentations, customer meetings, and trade shows Business and Market Expertise Demonstrates a basic understanding of Equinix DC, Network, and Cloud products Possesses basic industry knowledge and familiarity of the competitive landscape Collaboration / Communication Learns to support Sales teams in efforts to earn new business and maintain existing customer relationships Collaborates on a limited basis with internal teams (CSM, OM, IM, Ops, etc.) to ensure smooth project transition from pre-sales to post-sales Develops understanding of and maintains relationships with key internal stakeholders Mentorship / Team Leadership Open to guidance from leadership and more senior Sales Engineers Qualifications Pursuing a Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Sales, Management Information Systems, Data Science, etc Currently enrolled in a university program and will graduate between August 2026-May 2027 Available to intern (hybrid) from June- August 2026 hybrid in our Chicago office
