Assistant Produce Manager

As the Assistant Produce Manager, you'll support the Produce Manager in leading our vibrant Produce Department. You'll help oversee daily operations, ensure policy compliance, and maintain a friendly, knowledgeable presence that creates a delightful shopping experience. You'll assist with production and budget goals, uphold high standards of quality and efficiency, and perform stocking duties as needed. As a role model, you'll inspire your team with excellent customer service and a positive, energetic attitude. Main responsibilities: Support daily produce department operations while ensuring excellent customer service. Supervise Produce, Salad Bar, and Floral clerks; provide training and ongoing support. Assist in achieving sales, labor, shrink, gross profit, and inventory goals. Maintain product quality, merchandising, organization, presentation, and pricing accuracy. Order products, receive deliveries, and manage inventory levels. Act as department lead in the Produce Manager's absence. Use store computer systems and ensure compliance with company and food safety policies. Support workplace and food safety initiatives and assist with audits. Address customer concerns promptly and professionally. We are looking for candidates who possess the following: Soft skills:

Leadership and supervisory capability. Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities at once. Understanding of produce retail operations and merchandising. Knowledge:

Food safety standards and department procedures. Basic produce knowledge, freshness standards, and product handling. Inventory processes, ordering, and shrink control. Abilities:

Supervise 220 associates and support daily workflow. Assign, review, and approve work; assist with scheduling. Identify unsafe conditions and take corrective action. Perform stocking, rotation, and merchandising tasks as needed. Educational requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Travel requirements:

Occasional travel for training or development Other requirements:

Must be at least 18 years old. Flexible availability including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to work in varying temperatures (coolers, freezers, and standard retail areas). Ability to perform repetitive tasks and meet physical job demands. Must follow food safety practices and wear required protective equipment.
