Responsibilities
Provide lactation care and instruction to breastfeeding mothers and infants. Serve as a lactation-related clinical resource, educator, and mentor.
* Perform initial and on-going assessments of patients' lactation goals and issues. Instruct and demonstrate proper techniques and promote the importance of breastfeeding.
* Identify the need for standard patient teaching plans and assist with their development.
* Act as a liaison to staff and physicians when addressing needs associated with breastfeeding.
* Contribute to the development of data tools to monitor and improve outcomes.
Requirements
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
* One or more of the following required:
* Registered Nurse credentialed from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
* Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
* Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) preferred.
* Certification specializing in Lactation preferred.
* Certification specializing in The S.T.A.B.L.E Program preferred.
Education:
* Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.
