Indyhunger, Indianapolis

Save Job

MISSION AND BACKGROUND

Founded in 1989 by Major League Baseball, the Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) program was created to increase participation and access to baseball and softball among youth in underserved communities. Today, the program reaches more than 200,000 young people across the U.S. and internationally—using sport as a platform for character-building, teamwork, and opportunity.

Indy RBI, established in the early 1980’s and now one of the nation’s longest-running and most impactful RBI affiliates, has become a cornerstone of youth sport and community development in Indianapolis. Each year, the organization serves more than 1,200–1,400 youth across five Indy Parks locations, offering accessible baseball and softball programming along with wraparound supports that promote health, education, and workforce readiness.

As the official RBI affiliate of the Indianapolis Indians and a key partner of Indianapolis Indians Charities (IIC), Indy RBI has revitalized fields, strengthened community connections, and created pathways for thousands of young people to thrive on and off the field. The organization now stands at an exciting inflection point—building on its legacy to scale impact, deepen partnerships, and evolve as a model for inclusive, community-driven youth development.
