Overview
Teacher Orientation and Mobility (O&M) Specialist provides students with learning experiences that support their social, intellectual, and emotional development. The O&M Specialist helps students with visual impairments build the skills necessary to safely and independently navigate their environments, promoting confidence, sensory awareness, and functional mobility. Location: Tumwater, WA (supporting multiple nearby service areas) Start Date: February 23, 2026 End Date: 20-week assignment Schedule: Flexible; full-time or part-time options available Hours: 30 hours/week Pay Rate: $60/hour (in-person) Virtual Rates: $90/hr (BR) | $60/hr (PR) Caseload: Hood Canal: 1 student Tumwater: 9 students Onalaska: approx. 6 students Toledo: approx. 2–4 students Services vary—some weekly, some monthly Responsibilities
Provide O&M services to students across multiple sites Deliver instruction that promotes safe, independent travel Support students in developing orientation, mobility, sensory, and environmental awareness skills Collaborate with staff and families to support student success Maintain documentation and progress reporting per guidelines Minimum Requirements
Valid state teaching certificate Minimum one year of experience in an educational setting preferred Compliance with professional and regulatory standards Current CPR certification (if applicable) TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable) Current health certificate (as required) Meets all federal, state, and local requirements Must be at least 18 years of age Contact Information
