The Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs is the principal academic officer, reporting to the Chancellor. The office provides leadership in curriculum and program development, advancement of teaching, support of research and other scholarly work, and coordination of the faculty governance system. It is responsible for academic support units and services related to students’ academic programs, curriculum requirements, and opportunities. It has authority over appointment, promotion, and compensation of faculty and professional personnel, including compliance with the University’s Affirmative Action Plan. The Provost, through Faculty Personnel Services, oversees personnel administration for approximately 1,200 faculty employees and is responsible for annual and biennial budget planning and resource allocation among academic divisions. Position Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to support the strategic goals of Faculty Personnel Services (FPS) within the Office of the Provost. The Human Resource Specialist administers and provides oversight of EHRA Faculty positions and employee actions, including transactional processing of new hires, salary changes, terminations, and related activities. The role also handles all EHRA Faculty EPAFs and transactions for appointments, reappointments, promotions, etc. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions. Preferred Qualifications

Extensive knowledge of and experience with Ellucian Banner HR. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Excellent analytical and communication skills, customer service, and attention to detail. Experience in Higher Education, preferably within the UNC System. Knowledge of and prior experience with the policies and regulations governing faculty personnel actions. Demonstrated commitment to professional responsibilities. Ability to think critically and maintain a high standard of confidentiality. Alternate Option

Consultation Essential Tasks

Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with respective University constituents. Work closely with the Director on policies, procedures, and reporting to guide decision-making. Serve as a resource on academic matters by providing guidance, assistance, and support to management, members of the University community, and unit administrators. Work with the University community to provide information, explain, and clarify questions/concerns related to faculty employment. Provide regular updates to the Director to ensure the successful completion of the unit’s tasks. Key Responsibility

Maintaining Employment Records Essential Tasks

Process employment/personnel actions related to appointments/reappointments, promotions, and terminations in the Banner HR System. Ensure personnel/payroll transactions are processed and completed in a timely and accurate manner. Interpret and explain academic policies, procedures, laws, and standards to new and existing employees. Maintenance of appropriate personnel records/files. Key Responsibility

Preparing, Reviewing, or Processing Forms, Reports, Documents Essential Tasks

Analyze various payroll and personnel reports and prepare a variety of personnel reports for UNCG’s Board of Trustees and the UNC Office of the President. Initiation of Faculty Contracts – appointments, reappointments, changes in appointment/salary/title. Key Responsibility
