
Overview
What is the opportunity? As a Product Specialist within RBC's US Clearing & Custody Institutional Services, you will help advance the current product offering and drive the next generation of capabilities to support our Institutional offering. You will be part of a broader product organization that focuses on advancing all the tools and products our Institutional broker-dealers leverage to serve clients. Interacting extensively with prospective clients, existing clients, various business lines of RBC, operational partners and external vendors you will support the strategic vision of Institutional Services. Your ability to understand client needs by identifying where our strengths and weaknesses are in terms of our offering will be critical in creating a path that leads the business in the direction of success. You will also be heavily involved with supporting various functions aligned with Institutional Services that include product expertise for various financial instruments (equities, fixed income, options, underwritings), clearance & settlement, data analytics, and sales.
Responsibilities
Support the development and execution of business plans for Institutional Services
Partnering with Institutional Business Development and RBC departments to troubleshoot escalations
Prioritize and drive technical innovation to support straight through processing, self-service field capabilities, risk mitigation, expense reduction and service excellence
Work closely with client service teams, technology, business management, and various operational departments by advising or consulting on trading related matters such as settlements, regulations, syndicate processing, trade order management internal/external
Support various functions that align with Institutional Services which will include product support for equities, fixed income, options and more
Partner with business leaders to enable future growth, efficiencies and exemplary service
Oversee complex exception-based and/or highly specialized department deliverables and processes to ensure controls are effectively managing work quality, mitigating risk and aligned to regulatory adherence
Monitor implementation and effectiveness of new Technology solutions, processes/procedures to increase timeliness, reduce expenses, and/or enrich service
Work directly with existing clients to support or troubleshoot their production needs
Partner with Business Development to successfully expand our client base through the sales and referral process. This will include participating on calls with prospects to thoroughly understand their needs
Become familiar with our existing technology footprint and identify ways to expand our product offering through internal collaboration or third-party integration
Qualifications Must-have
5+ years experience of trade settlement/operations and/or product management in a financial services company
Willingness to question status quo, identify and escalate issues
Strong risk management and control mindset
Ability to analyze and break down ambiguous or complex issues into concrete deliverables and takes responsibility for ensuring deliverables are met
Ability to execute and manage multiple priorities and project concurrently
Proven track record of delivery; ability to drive concepts to execution
Nice-to-have
Series 7 license
Experience with fixed income operations, settlements and clearing

The expected salary range for this particular position is $90,000-$160,000, depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.
