Overview
A&M United Methodist Church is seeking a creative, strategic, and mission-driven Director of Communications to lead all aspects of church-wide communication. This full-time, exempt position shapes how our congregation and community experience the message, ministries, and mission of A&M UMC. The Director of Communications will develop and champion our communications strategy, oversee digital and print platforms, guide brand identity, and lead our Communications Team. This role requires strong leadership, excellent storytelling skills, and an ability to translate ministry vision into clear, compelling content. Key Responsibilities
Lead the Communications Team and oversee all church-wide messaging, promotion, and content. Manage and protect the church’s brand identity across digital, print, and visual communication. Develop and execute a comprehensive digital strategy, including website, social media, email, and digital signage. Create high-quality graphics, videos, and storytelling pieces that communicate the mission and ministries of A&M UMC. Collaborate with ministry leaders to plan and promote events, programs, and initiatives. Oversee weekly email communications, publication standards, and content quality control. Build positive relationships with local media outlets and coordinate coverage of major initiatives. Use analytics and best practices to continually improve communication effectiveness. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field (or equivalent professional experience). Minimum 5 years of experience leading communications or marketing teams. Demonstrated excellence in writing, editing, digital communication, and visual storytelling. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and other design tools. Strong understanding of branding, digital strategy, social media, and user experience. Excellent project management skills and attention to detail. Experience communicating within a Christian ministry context preferred. A commitment to the mission and ministry of A&M United Methodist Church. About A&M United Methodist Church
