Opening Date : February 5, 2026 Closing Date : February 12, 2026 LC Organization Unit : Congressional Research Service LC Organization Unit - Specific Office : Counselor of the Director Grade : GS-09 Series : 1035 Availability : Congressional Research Service Staff Only Duration : Up to 120 days The Congressional Research Service, Office of the Director is offering a 120-day opportunity for two qualified individuals at the GS-7 to serve on a full-time temporary promotion to the GS-09 to serve on a full-time detail as a Public Affairs Specialist in the Congressional Programs and Communications Office. Duties: Public Affairs Specialist takes lead responsibility for ensuring logistical and administrative support necessary to deliver programs, seminars, and events for Members, committees, and staff of the U.S. Congress. The position also assists the office head with major programs and services related to congressional client education and outreach. The Congressional Programs and Communications Office (CPC) in the Office of the Director (DIR) of the Congressional Research Service (CRS) coordinates a variety of programs, seminars, and events (including broadcast, Web-based, and other technologies) for Members, committees, and staff of the U.S. Congress. CPC Office activities include: 1) coordinating regularly-scheduled training programs in legislative processes and procedures; 2) supporting programs and seminars on the federal budget, federal law, and public policy issues; 3) coordinating policy programs for new Members of Congress and orientation to CRS services for permanent congressional staff and for congressional interns; 4) coordinating other events for the U.S. Congress and for CRS managers and staff; and 5) providing information to congressional clients about CRS programs, products, and services.
