General supervision is provided by the Manager of Recreation Services. Responsible for supervision of Athletics and Aquatics Coordinators, and Westlake Sports Center. All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct and Rules of Behavior outlined in Chapter 8 of the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual. Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in city and department attendance policies and procedures. Provide timely, accurate and thorough Performance Reviews for supervised employees. Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for providing athletics programs; maintain personnel and program records as required. Participate in the selection of athletics staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures. Assist with and participate in various special events. Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; establish schedules and methods for providing athletics programs; implement policies and procedures. Participate in the preparation and administration of the athletics program budget; submit budget recommendations; determine athletic sports fees and monitor expenditures. Represent the Parks and Recreation Department; promote Parks and Recreation Department programs, policies, and activities; negotiate and resolve sensitive, significant and controversial issues. Supervise Tennis Center staff, programs and operations. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor program compliance with laws, rules and regulations related to the provision of City Athletics services; monitor and inspect athletic facilities; schedule maintenance and secure facilities. Work with Athletics staff to develop a master schedule of year-round programs. Inspect, record and arrange for maintenance and repairs to athletic facilities. Operate the City of Mesquite vehicles. Attend training workshops and staff meetings as required. Provide information and answer questions of the public. Perform other duties as assigned. Evaluate program and staff survey results, prepare statistical reports and provide strategic plans for any changes EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation administration, physical education, or related field. Four years of increasingly responsible athletics program management or sports administration. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Possession of a valid driver’s license with no restrictions. Obtain valid CPR and First Aid certification from the American Red Cross or another agency of equivalent standing. WORK SCHEDULE
Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Some evenings and weekends required
