Overview

To Proudly Go Inc. began with an idea to support the LGBTQIA+ community through donation partnerships with organizations working on queer issues. We celebrate science fiction to show that generosity and compassion can help create a future where everyone can succeed through unity and purpose. Since March 1, 2021, we’ve raised over $15,000 for charity. To Proudly Go Inc. is dedicated to creating safe and supportive spaces that celebrate science fiction, promote the LGBTQIA+ community, and empower community causes through programming, fundraising events, and partnerships. To Proudly Go began with the idea of supporting the LGBTQIA+ community through donations to queer-issue organizations. We celebrate science fiction—particularly

Star Trek —as storytelling that demonstrates the generosity and compassion of the human spirit and its power to foster harmony, peace, and longevity. We envision a future where everyone, regardless of circumstances, can find unity and purpose, expand knowledge, and improve the human condition. To Proudly Go is a volunteer-operated nonprofit incorporated in New York State on March 1, 2021, with an annual operating budget of approximately $11,000.

Position

Chief Communications Officer (CCO)

is a member of the executive leadership team and provides strategic oversight of all external communications, public relations, and brand stewardship. Reporting to the

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) , the CCO shapes and safeguards the organization’s public narrative, ensures messaging consistency, and advances visibility, engagement, and trust across all audiences. The CCO functions as a key organizational ambassador, supporting the mission, values, fundraising efforts, and community relationships through thoughtful, inclusive, and strategic communications. Chief Development Officer (CDO)

Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and steward a comprehensive communications strategy that advances To Proudly Go’s mission, values, and priorities. Serve as the executive steward of the organization’s brand voice, messaging consistency, and public narrative across platforms and audiences. Provide strategic oversight of all external communications, including social media, website content, press materials, marketing collateral, public statements, and campaigns. Collaborate with the CEO and CDO to support fundraising, donor engagement, partnerships, and campaign messaging. Oversee the development, review, and approval of press releases, media statements, and official announcements with executive leadership. Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, community partners, and external stakeholders aligned with the mission and values. Establish and enforce brand, style, and graphic design guidelines to ensure consistency, accessibility, and inclusivity across communications. Provide leadership for promoting events, programs, and community engagement with clear, accurate messaging. Monitor, analyze, and report on communications performance metrics and provide insights to leadership to inform strategy. Advise the CEO on reputational considerations, sensitive communications, and emerging issues. Foster a collaborative and inclusive communications culture among volunteers and contributors. Perform additional duties as assigned by the CEO in support of the organization. Time Commitment : Approximately 20 hours per month Location : New York City–based (hybrid / volunteer)

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate brings a mix of experience, curiosity, and passion for service. While prior experience is helpful, we value commitment, growth, and collaboration.

Preferred Experience (not Required)

At least one year of experience in one or more of the following areas Communications and/or social media management Marketing or graphic design External affairs or public relations
