Your Role

We have multiple CNN Digital Editorial internship opportunities available. By applying to this posting, you will be considered for multiple internship opportunities within this general area. These internships will be located in the NYC area. The selected interns will be expected to join us in the office on a regular cadence based on the intern manager’s in-office schedule.

Your Role Accountabilities

Duties could include:

Hands-on work and mentorship from passionate, talented team members

Reporting and writing multiple news stories every week on deadlines and receiving a byline for those stories

Research developing and breaking news stories

Fact-check

Log tapes

Conduct interviews

Pitch story ideas

Write brief news copy

Contributing to and writing original stories for CNN Digital

Independent research on topics/designated areas of interest for growth and audience engagement as directed by relevant team members

Qualifications & Experience

Essentials needed for the positions that are similar across the above roles (these do not all have to apply to every single role):

Writing samples are required

Curious mind

Excellent communicator

Attention to detail

Research skills

Digital literacy

Understanding of how to spot and tell a great story

Interest in writing for business, consumer, ecommerce, product reviews, lifestyle, science, or travel features

Experience reading, evaluating and reporting on studies and data

Basic understanding of cross-platform storytelling

Experience working in a digital newsroom

Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required)

Must be a rising Junior or Senior (18 years or older)

Please change the posting if the team is only approved for / accepting undergraduate applicants

Must be in academic good standing (3.0 or above GPA). A transcript will be required to verify your GPA if an offer is extended.

Warner Bros. Discovery will only consider candidates who are presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and who will not require work visa sponsorship now or in the future to retain their authorization. Candidates on student or exchange visas may not be eligible for the internship program.

What to know before applying

The duration of the summer program regardless of start/end option is 11 weeks.

Program date options

Option 1: June 1 – August 14; Option 2: June 8 – August 21

Interns will be expected to work 35-40 hours per week in a hybrid capacity

Internships are paid opportunities with a competitive hourly wage. Credit is not required; however, school credit can be documented if desired. Relocation is not provided.

Interviewing will take place from mid February through early April. A WBD team member will contact you if your experiences and interests match an open internship position. Due to high volume, individual status updates may not be provided.

On December 5, Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery announced a definitive agreement under which Netflix will acquire Warner Bros., including its film and television studios, HBO Max and HBO. The transaction is expected to close after the separation of Warner Bros. Discovery's Global Networks division, Discovery Global, into a new publicly-traded company, expected to be completed in Q3 2026. For more details, please visit our newsroom.

Although you will be hired by Warner Bros. Discovery, upon the planned spin-off of Discovery Global in 2026, your employment likely will transition to Warner Bros. or Discovery Global. You’ll have opportunities during this transformation.
