Your Role Accountabilities
Hands‑on work and mentorship from passionate, talented team members (journalism)
Reporting and writing multiple news stories each week on deadlines and receiving a byline for those stories
Research, developing, and breaking news stories
Fact‑check
Log tapes
Conduct interviews
Pitch story ideas
Write brief news copy
Contribute to and write original stories for CNN Digital
Independent research on topics/designated areas of interest for growth and audience engagement as directed by relevant members of the team
Qualifications & Experience
Writing samples are required
Curious mind
Excellent communicator
Attention to detail
Research skills
Digital literacy
Have keen understanding of how to spot and tell a great story
Interest in writing for business, consumer, e‑commerce, product reviews, lifestyle, science, or travel features
Experience reading, evaluating, and reporting on studies and data
Basic understanding of cross‑platform storytelling
Experience working in a digital newsroom
Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required)
Must be a rising Junior or Senior (18 years or older)
Must be in academic good standing (3.0 or above GPA); transcript will be required to verify GPA if an offer is extended
Must be authorized to work in the United States and will not require work‑visa sponsorship from Warner Bros. Discovery
What to Know Before Applying The summer program lasts 11 weeks, regardless of the start/end option.
Program Date Options
Option 1: June 1 – August 14
Option 2: June 8 – August 21
Program Details
Interns will be expected to work 35–40 hours per week in a hybrid capacity.
Internships are paid opportunities with a competitive hourly wage. Credit is not required, but we will provide the necessary documentation for school credit if desired. Relocation is not provided.
Interviewing will take place from mid‑February through early‑April. A WBD team member will contact you if your experiences and interests match an open internship position. Due to the high volume of applications, we are unable to give individual status updates.
Compensation Pay Rate: $19 per hour USD for undergrad interns.
