Role Description We’re looking for a teamMate to join us as a Sales & Marketing Specialist at a pivotal moment in our journey. In this role, you’ll manage existing accounts, support events and trade shows, and lead community programs, while also shaping how the Mate brand shows up across social and digital channels. This is a hands-on, strategic role where you’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact and grow with us as we scale, developing the position into a full-time role
Sales Responsibilities:
Manage existing accounts serving as the primary point of contact ensuring timely communication, addressing questions and concerns and shipment of orders.
On occasion conduct store visits alongside distribution partners. To provide product education, merchandising support, and on-site training as needed. Gathering market insights, customer feedback, and competitive intelligence from the field
Plan, coordinate, and manage branded events, customer activations, and partner engagements ensuring alignment with brand goals.
Attend Trade Shows and Industry Events representing the brand, engaging with prospects and customers and generating new leads. Provide support with planning and execution of booth set up.
Create and maintain sales and marketing materials including sell sheets, and product presentations.
Build and grow a community program through a network of ambassadors that builds long-term brand loyalty and engagement
Marketing Responsibilities:
Own the creation and management of marketing campaigns, including content calendars that builds upon content pillars, includes social content, retail & brand events, social giveaways, influencer activations, and brand campaigns.
Plan, coordinate, and manage branded events, customer activations, and partner engagements ensuring alignment with brand goals.
Ideate, develop (caption writing, design direction, and more), and post all organic social media content to all owned and operated handles, including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and LinkedIn
Act as the voice of Mate online by monitoring social media activity generating timely, thoughtful responses to cultivate authentic community relationships. Liking and engaging with followers, creators, and retail partners across platforms.
Understand key social trends benchmarking competitors and category leaders to identify white-space opportunities reacting and building on strategies as trends evolve.
Define, report, and analyze metrics (reach, engagement, follower growth, content performance) to formulate measurable insights to guide and optimize social media strategy
Qualifications:
Resourcefulness and resilience; ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced founder-led environment.
A roll-up-your-sleeves attitude and comfort with ambiguity.
Demonstrated ability to build and manage social platforms that drive engagement, awareness, and brand affinity.
Strong editorial instincts and copywriting ability — able to write with tone, wit, and nuance.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client presentations and negotiations.
Comfortable and confident on camera. You’re willing to show your face, film yourself, and use basic in-app editing tools to bring ideas to life quickly.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
Previous experience in the food and beverage industry or consumer goods is a plus.
Candidates should have 1 – 3+ years experience
Practicalities:
Must be based in NYC area
Salary based on experience ranging from $17 – $25 per hour
Approx 20- 25 hrs. per week
Some full days/travel could be required
