Role Overview As part of the Membership Engagement and Growth team, the Senior Manager manages all member communications as well as member engagement activities related to government affairs and advocacy. The Senior Manager ensures that the association's brand, reputation, and legislative priorities are consistently articulated, effectively promoted, and powerfully represented to members, driving member engagement across a range of advocacy and policy efforts.

Specific Responsibilities In coordination with NRMCA colleagues, subject matter experts, key member stakeholders, and colleagues from professional practice:

Communications

Coordinate all member-related communications, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and alignment with brand standards within NRMCA's broader communications framework.

Support development of content across media: newsletters, social media, website, reports, videos, and marketing collateral.

Manage editorial calendars, messaging platforms, and brand.

Oversee media relations: build relationships with trade and national press, pitch stories, prepare spokespeople, and respond to media inquiries.

Advocacy & Government Relations

Lead policy tracking, analysis, and member communication on legislative and regulatory.

Draft policy statements, comment letters, testimony, issue briefs, and advocacy.

Coordinate lobby days, fly-ins, briefings, roundtables, and grassroots engagement.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Public Policy, Political Science, English, or Journalism.

Experience

5+ years of progressive experience in communications within a trade association.

Knowledge

Association Awareness: A strong understanding of how associations function, including governance and organizational structure.

Communications & Marketing Knowledge: Strong communications planning and brand messaging alignment through multi-channel content strategy (email, web, social, print, video, events).

Member Engagement Strategy: Digital marketing campaigns and cadences, member segmentation and journey mapping across roles and personas.

Content Development & Storytelling: Editing and writing expertise for newsletters, position statements, advocacy messaging, and program promotions.

Advocacy & Public Affairs: Understanding of legislative and regulatory processes and ability to craft calls-to-action and mobilize member participation in public policy initiatives.

Skills

Demonstrated ability to engage with a wide variety of stakeholders, both internal and external to NRMCA. Must have experience working across multiple networks and stakeholder groups and a proven ability to build strong relationships with member leaders, senior executives, colleagues, vendors, and partner organizations.

Excellent presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse.

Experience managing projects and documenting processes (Monday.com preferred).

Proficient in MS Office, PowerBI, Association Management Systems (Protech).

Maintain standards of professionalism and service excellence in all functions of the.

Ability to develop trusting and collaborative relationships with teams and colleagues across the.
