Analyze, reviews, and funds, one-time close and two-time close commercial construction loans, consistent with MACU policies and procedures and secondary market guidelines. Manage the full lifecycle of commercial construction loans from origination to project completion.# **Job Description****LOCATION**Mountain America Center - In Office:9800 S Monroe St
Sandy, UT 84070**SCHEDULE**Full TimeTo be effective, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty successfully.* Manages and oversees the administration of all construction loan files, which includes reviewing and analyzing the cost to build, debt ratios, cash to close, etc., funding the loan, monitoring the disbursement of construction funds, reviewing inspections, project reviews, contractor reviews, and whatever else is necessary to ensure the safety and soundness of the construction division and Mountain America Credit Union.* Ensure compliance with internal credit policy and procedure, NCUA guidelines, SBA SOP (for SBA construction loans), etc.* Maintain accurate project tracking; budgets, contingency usage, loan balances, and inspection results.* Coaches, mentors, and evaluates the construction loan team; ensures the team has sufficient knowledge and is cross-trained sufficiently to handle all duties in the absence of the construction manager.* Work in tandem with CRE and SBA loan officers to ensure a positive experience for those members interested and applying for commercial construction loans.* Offers the member outstanding service, ease of access, and competitive products.* Ensures procedures manual is kept updated as procedures change.* Assists in training SBA and CRE Loan Officers, Construction Coordinators, administrators and underwriters with gathering required documentation and reviewing construction loan files.* Assists in developing and implementing marketing strategies to achieve individual loan officer goals, and department loan growth goals and objectives.* Maintain proactive communication with borrowers, contractors, inspectors, and internal stakeholders.* Consolidates and presents construction loans in loan committee for approval. Ensures all pertinent information is presented to the loan committee so an informed decision can be made.* Inform management, including the MACU Loan Committee, of issues that arise during the construction process that could negatively impact our ability to obtain long term financing.* Understands and resolves 1099 and 1098 reporting issues in a timely manner.* Coordinates with attorneys, title companies, appraisers, inspectors, and members as necessary to ensure a smooth construction process.* Performs other duties as assigned**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES**The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.**Experience**Eight years of increasingly responsible experience in loan processing, banking, or construction finance, with a proven ability to manage loan portfolios, coordinate with stakeholders, and resolve complex financial issues in construction and real estate lending.**Education**Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, or a closely related field is required. Equivalent education and experience may be considered in place of a degree, such as an associate degree combined with additional years of relevant professional experience in loan processing, banking, or construction finance.**Licenses, Certificates, Registrations**n/a**Managerial Responsibility**Has managerial responsibility for a group of employees with diversified functions.**Language Skills*** Must have the ability to read and interpret financial documents such as loan agreements, financial statements, regulatory guidelines, and operational procedures.* Ability to prepare routine reports and professional correspondence related to loan processing, financial analysis, and departmental operations.* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with groups of employees, members, clients, and stakeholders regarding financial matters, loan products, and department initiatives.**Computer/Office Equipment Skills*** Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and other job-specific software applications.* Skilled in utilizing analytical and reporting tools, loan origination systems, and automation platforms to streamline operations and enhance productivity.* Demonstrated ability to leverage technology and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for data analysis, process automation, and decision support in financial services.* Adept at adopting new digital tools and integrating emerging technologies to improve workflow efficiency, accuracy, and customer experience.**Other Skills and Abilities*** Maintain in-depth understanding and knowledge of financial statement principles and analysis (income statements, balance sheets and cash flow analysis).* Excellent inter-personal skills including the ability to lead and collaborate with ad-hoc teams.* Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.* Self-starter with strong organization and time management skills and the ability to work productively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and timelines.* Demonstrated knowledge of review and negotiation of contracts and agreements with complex terms and conditions.* Knowledge of rules, requirements, and regulations from governing bodies (NCUA, CFPB, OCC, et al) with respect to commercial and business lending.* Ability to adeptly gauge the merits of a commercial construction loan request, the ideal structure of the request and whether there are enough strengths to mitigate expected weaknesses to a degree satisfactory to MACU.* Demonstrated ability to leverage knowledge of business lending industry trends to influence strategy.* Excellent public speaking, written/verbal communication skills.* Adaptive to change, responds positively to altered circumstances or conditions.* Possess a desire and willingness to learn and continually update knowledge base on financial concepts, strategies, systems etc.* Demonstrated judgment skills to make quick decisions within or outside written policy and procedures.* Take initiative to be a problem solver and provide suggestions to improve processes and efficiencies.* Unquestioned personal and professional integrity.**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORKING CONDITIONS****Physical Demands**Ability to talk, hear, sit, use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms consistently.
