About The Role Reporting to the Director, USA Southwest, the Business Development Representative (BDR) plays a key role in driving Richards’ growth by identifying, validating, and onboarding net new customers within an assigned territory. This is a professional sales role focused on presenting, promoting, and selling our Industrial Packaging Distribution products while exceeding sales and margin targets.
The ideal candidate thrives in a competitive environment, brings a true hunter mentality, and excels at building strong customer relationships.
This is a full-time, hybrid position, and travel is mandatory.
The Successful Applicant Will
Identify and prospect high‑potential new customers within your assigned territory.
Build and maintain a curated list of strategic and traditional prospects.
Conduct customer visits, presentations, product training, and sales events.
Develop and execute territory plans, call cycles, and growth strategies.
Manage your sales pipeline from lead generation through deal closure.
Onboard new customers and ensure a smooth transition into ongoing account management.
Maintain accurate CRM records and complete daily sales reporting.
Represent Richards at industry trade shows and customer training sessions.
We are seeking a candidate with the following experience and attributes
Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field, or equivalent experience
5+ years of successful sales experience (rigid packaging experience preferred).
Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Ability to build ROI‑based business cases and sell value‑driven solutions.
Technical understanding of rigid packaging (glass, plastic, metal, closures).
Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage shifting priorities.
Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong hunter mentality.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
