Position Summary

We are seeking a strong, visionary leader to serve as our Solo Pastor. The ideal candidate will be a “shepherd-leader” who can get excited about our outreach ideas while keeping the congregation grounded and focused. This pastor will lead us in growing our ministry to young families and youth, while nurturing the spiritual health of our current members through biblical teaching, compassionate care, and effective administration.

Responsibilities

Word & Sacrament

Preaching: Deliver biblically grounded sermons using a variety of styles, including narrative, expository, and topical approaches, to call the congregation to personal faith in Christ.

Worship Leadership: Lead regular worship services and administer the Sacraments (including home communion for the shut-in).

Teaching: Provide robust Christian education for all ages, helping the congregation grow in their understanding of Scripture.

Pastoral Care & Fellowship

Visitation: Conduct regular visits to homes, hospitals, and nursing homes.

Congregational Support: Pray with and for the congregation; motivate members to support and comfort one another.

Presence: Participate actively in church programs and weekly fellowship activities throughout the year.

Administration & Communication

Session Engagement: Guide the Session and staff to foster healthy working relationships and effective programming.

Transparency: Facilitate clear, consistent communication between church leadership and the congregation.

Visionary Leadership & Growth

Community Outreach: Lead the implementation of the “Help & Haven” spot for international students and explore the development of a Hispanic worship hour.

Strategic Growth: Develop and execute strategies to attract and engage young families and youth.

Partnerships: Actively seek and maintain partnerships with local agencies and other community organizations to increase the church’s local impact.

Staff & Leadership Development: Work closely with the Session to manage current staff and identify needs for additional staff to support growing ministries.
