Position Summary
Position Summary
Direct and supervise the performance of the Agents, Agency Managers and Member Service Specialists in the Region. Facilitate effective partnerships with state and county Farm Bureau leadership in assigned territory. Achieve property & casualty and life sales goals, including sales of Brokerage Agency products, membership sales and retention goals, and P&C profitability expectations. Direct and oversee agent headcount growth, in support of company growth strategies. Maintain appropriate Member Service Specialist staffing levels in all offices. Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic business plans which support the corporate initiatives for salesforce and premium growth, expense management, and profitability goals in the assigned territory. Performance Management: Ensure Property & Casualty, Life, and Membership sales and profitability goals are allocated to and met by Agency Managers in the assigned territory. Monitoring and managing agent incentives, contests and bonus plans. Communications: Develop and maintain effective plans for field communications with the Agency Force, Field Trainers, Field Service Directors and County and State Farm Bureau leadership. Develop and maintain effective communication channels with other departments to ensure excellent customer service. Work closely with Human Resources on all personnel matters, including hiring and performance management concerns. Problem Resolution: Research and resolve complex issues that have escalated above the Agency Manager level, including employee, policyholder and county leadership concerns and complaints; working closely with Human Resources on all employee relations issues. Attend, and when appropriate, facilitate meetings, conferences, conventions and training opportunities, including agency, district and staff meetings, Sales Conference, SFB Managers Conference, VFBF Convention. Attend and encourage agency force to attend Virginia Farm Bureau and Southern Farm Bureau Life incentive trips. Oversight of New Agent selection process including contracting new agents. All other duties assigned by the Director of Sales. Minimum Educational/Experience Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent work experience / professional development 4+ years direct sales management/leadership experience 5+ years multiline, captive-agent Active Virginia insurance licenses in Property & Casualty and Life & Health Minimum Skill Qualifications
Strong work ethic Flexibility to work hours necessary to manage assigned territory & meet expectations (approximately 80% travel / 20% overnight travel) Proven ability to think strategically Proven ability to motivate others Demonstrated leadership ability to achieve results and hold the team accountable. Advanced Insurance Designations (CPCU, CLU, ChFC, FSCP, RICP, CFP®, etc.) 10+ years experience with Farm Bureau, 5+ years as a Farm Bureau Agency Manager Residency Requirement
Candidate selected is required to reside “central” to the assigned territory within 6 months of accepting the position. “Central” is defined as 75%+ of the assigned offices must be no more than a one and one-half (1 ½) hour radius from the candidate’s residence, and the candidate must reside within the assigned territory or in a county contiguous to the assigned territory.
