Job Overview The Lead Carpenter is responsible for overseeing the construction and installation of sets in the theatre. This role involves interpreting set designs and supervising a team of carpenters to ensure that all construction is completed to the highest standards. This position requires a driven individual with strong leadership skills and extensive knowledge of theatrical set construction and management.
Responsibilities
Oversee the construction and installation of sets in the theatre.
Interpret set designs and supervise a team of carpenters to ensure all construction is completed to the highest standards.
Manage project timelines, ensure safety protocols are followed, and maintain quality control.
Coordinate with the Assistant Technical Directors during load-ins and load-outs.
Enforce safety measures to protect all team members.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and time management skills.
Extensive knowledge of theatrical set construction and management.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting set designs and blueprints.
Experience with various carpentry tools and techniques.
Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices.
Ability to manage and motivate a team.
Must be comfortable working with students and volunteers.
Ability to lift 50 lbs and work comfortably at heights.
Reliable transportation and/or a valid driver's license is preferred.
Ability to drive a 26' box truck is preferred.
