Orofino is an outdoor community with opportunities for hiking, camping, backpacking, fishing, boating, and various winter activities. State Hospital North is a 55-bed inpatient psychiatric hospital focused on treating individuals with mental health needs through teamwork and recovery-oriented decision-making. We are hiring for multiple full-time positions in Recreation Therapy and Psychiatric Treatment Coordination, with Therapeutic Recreation being the heart and soul of the hospital. This is a rewarding opportunity to help patients move toward independence and mental health recovery.
This position is not eligible for telework.

Examples of Duties
Complete assessments identifying patients’ social, physical, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual needs, strengths, and abilities related to leisure functioning.
Develop long- and short-term treatment goals centered on patients’ goals for recovery.
Collaborate and communicate with the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team regarding patient health needs and abilities.
Evaluate progress, plan, and implement treatment programming.
Complete timely documentation meeting policies and procedures.
Facilitate leisure groups and activities to support treatment goals and interventions.
Support hospital’s mission, goals, and philosophy.
Coordinate and communicate programming needs/plans with identified departments.
Minimum Qualifications You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. Please ensure your resume/work history supports meeting the minimum qualifications. Attach a one-page cover letter to demonstrate how you meet the requirements.
Licensed or registered by the State of Idaho, and (i) Eligible for certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist or activities professional by a recognized accrediting body on or after October 1, 1990; or (ii) Has 2 years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years, one year full-time in a therapeutic activities program; or (iii) Is a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant (Idaho Code 54.3706); or (iv) Has completed a training course approved by the State. Reference 42 CFR 483.24.
Knowledge of therapeutic recreation theory, practices and methods; recreation activities and equipment suitable for handicapped/special needs clients; assessment instruments; human growth and development.
Experience developing recreational therapy treatment goals for clients, typically at least six months.
Experience planning and conducting individual and group therapy sessions, typically at least six months plus relevant coursework.
