
Position Summary
Responsible for the support of the sales department, being the point of reference for the sales reps, by providing feedback, documentation and information and perform basic office functions as needed.
Job Functions/Duties (may be assigned other duties by management)
Accurately process customer transactions such as orders or quotes in a timely manner
Present price, credit and terms in accordance with standard procedures and customers' profitability profiles
Provide accurate information regarding availability of in-stock items
Recommend alternate products based on cost, availability or specifications
Provide accurate information from vendors relating to shipment dates and expected date of delivery
Determine customer requirements and expectations in order to recommend specific products and solutions
Proactively recommend items needed by customers to increase customer satisfaction and improve transaction profitability
Assist in the preparation and organizing promotional materials and technical documentation in a timely manner
Monitor scheduled shipment dates to ensure timely delivery and expedite as needed
Setup and maintain customer files
Store and sort financial and non-financial data in electronic form and present reports
Identify trends in customer satisfaction or dissatisfaction
Remain current on consumer preferences, changes in local codes and product developments by attending sales meetings, vendor training and trade shows, or reading trade journals
Manage time effectively, meet personal goals and work effectively with other members of the distribution team
Communicate to the purchasing department unexpected increases or decreases in demand for products
Maintain proficiency in using personal computer, data entry terminal and other common office equipment and software
Personally observe safety and security procedures and proper use of equipment and material. Actively promote safety process and report any safety issues to proper channels for action.
Qualifications/Education Requirements
Proficient computer skills with knowledge of MS Office and/or company specific databases.
Ability and desire to sell.
Understand the fundamental concepts of product or products
High level of accuracy and time management required
Good oral and written communication and analytical skills.
Must be able to work well with stringent deadlines and possess good organizational skills.
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field preferred.
2-5 years of sales and customer service experience preferred.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements Normal office environment and occasional exposure to plant environment during the course of normal job duties
Continuously required to move about the facility
Occasional travel and On call required
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including eye and hearing protection, hardhat and safety shoes while in shop environment or on job site.
This is a safety sensitive position.
