Overview
The RME-G Fire Sprinkler Designer will produce CAD drawings to ensure proper layout and installation of fire protection systems. NICET Level II is required.
Strong technical skills in fire protection design, hydraulic calculations, and code compliance, from concept to completion.
Partner with engineers and field staff to prepare design drawings, material lists, and surveys for new and existing systems.
NICET Level III certification is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
Apply NFPA standards and local building regulations to ensure safety, efficiency, and system performance.
Develop detailed sprinkler system designs using AutoCAD or similar CAD platforms, coordinating with other building trades. Demonstrate proficiency with hydraulic calculation software and FM Global standards.
Interpret construction documents, specifications, and codes to design compliant fire sprinkler systems.
Review and approve design documents and shop drawings for accuracy, compliance, and constructability.
Perform hydraulic calculations and generate material lists to support fabrication and installation.
Prepare and submit design drawings and documentation for permitting, fabrication, and construction.
Qualifications
RME-G is required.
Associate's degree
in technical drafting, engineering, or fire protection. High school diploma required.
5-7 years of experience in fire sprinkler design, layout, or hydraulic calculations.
NICET Level II is required
Strong knowledge of NFPA and related codes and standards.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, or similar fire sprinkler design software.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Solid math skills, including geometry and algebra.
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
Detail-oriented with strong time management and collaboration skills.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally to job sites.
