Job Description

In this role in the Priesthood and Family Department, you’ll be an integral part of a dynamic team that creates and publishes inspirational messages for members of the Church around the world. Your primary responsibility will be to coordinate the creation and publishing of engaging multimedia content to be sent to member audiences.
As part of the Liahona team, you’ll develop and refine long-form, enterprise-style magazine articles, packages, and series that explore complex themes, issues, and challenges relevant to the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, the Church, and its global audience. You’ll collaborate with a team of skilled professionals to ensure content is engaging, accurate, doctrinally sound, and aligned with the mission of the Church and the teachings of Jesus Christ. Responsibilities
Help prepare and publish inspirational messages for various platforms, including Liahona, Facebook, Instagram, email, the Gospel Library app, and more.
Research, write, and edit compelling magazine articles that resonate with a diverse readership.
Dive deep into doctrinal research to accurately present gospel principles.
Conduct insightful interviews leading to meaningful storytelling.
Handle time-sensitive assignments at a moment’s notice.
Analyze and interpret complex themes and issues facing the Church and its members.
Edit submitted content and work with authors to ready articles for publication.
Collaborate with designers, photographers, and other editorial staff to produce high-quality content in an omnichannel approach.
Mentor, encourage, and lead interns and other employees.
Uphold editorial standards and maintain the voice and purpose of Liahona and the Church.
Consult with General Authorities, General Officers, area staffs, and representatives from Church departments to help create content that aligns with the Church\'s strategies and standards.
Assist in the development and implementation of content strategy for current and developing products.
Take on temporary management responsibilities as needed.
You’ll work closely with critical partners, including division and department leaders, support staff, General Officers, product managers, subject-matter experts, and representatives from Church departments. Your guidance and support will assist them in aligning their content with the overarching content strategy of the Church.
Qualifications
Content planners typically have more than 8 years of professional experience plus an advanced degree or equivalent education; excellent written and oral communication skills; and the ability to lead ongoing projects.
Print and digital journalism experience is a plus.
An understanding and familiarity with Chicago style is helpful.
Must be able to thrive under and adhere to deadlines.
Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and a testimony of His restored gospel are essential.
