Role Overview A well-established, family-owned custom kitchen and bath design and installation firm is seeking a
Custom Finish Carpenter
to support high-end, one-of-a-kind residential projects. This role focuses on
custom woodwork, special finishes, and precision installation , not repetitive factory or production-line work.
The ideal candidate is a skilled craftsman who takes pride in detail, thrives in custom environments, and is comfortable working with designers, homeowners, and project leads to deliver exceptional finished spaces. Each project is unique, and success in this role requires adaptability, craftsmanship, and a strong eye for finish quality.
Key Responsibilities
Build, modify, and install custom cabinetry, islands, built-ins, trim, and architectural details
Execute finish carpentry work including crown molding, base, casing, paneling, and specialty millwork
Perform precise field measurements, scribing, and on-site adjustments to ensure tight, high-end finishes
Work with a variety of wood species, veneers, and finish materials
Specialty & Finish Work
Execute custom details such as inset cabinetry, flush panels, decorative wood elements, and specialty trim
Install and adjust doors, drawers, and hardware to meet exacting standards
Ensure consistent finish quality across all visible surfaces
Address unique site conditions with creative, high-skill solutions
Collaboration & Project Execution
Collaborate closely with designers, project managers, and installers to execute design intent
Read and interpret shop drawings, plans, and specifications
Communicate clearly when site conditions require design or installation adjustments
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite in occupied homes
Quality, Safety & Professionalism
Maintain high craftsmanship standards on every project
Use tools and equipment safely and responsibly
Represent the company professionally when working in clients’ homes
Take ownership of work quality from start to finish
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in
finish carpentry or custom residential carpentry
Proven experience with
one-off, custom work
(not production or assembly-line environments)
Strong ability to work with hand tools and precision power tools
Experience performing on-site modifications, scribing, and finish adjustments
Ability to read drawings and execute detailed design intent
High attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship

Background in

Experience installing

Familiarity with premium tools (e.g., track saws, precision joinery tools, specialty clamps)

Ability to problem-solve creatively when designs meet real-world conditions
Background in small-shop or design-build environments
