Job Description Key Responsibilities
Apply deep knowledge of equipment speed rates and production capabilities. Work within EFI PrintSmith and related workflows. Accurately cost print jobs using critical thinking rather than relying solely on automation, including calculating labor, materials, run times, and finishing. Lead accurate estimating for digital, offset, and finishing work across all job types. Preflight artwork, prepare proofs, and approve print-ready files. Conduct press sign-offs, verifying color, registration, and overall quality; document all approvals. Collaborate with clients and internal teams to clarify job specifications, timelines, and production requirements. Track actual costs versus estimates and propose improvements to accuracy, margins, and workflow efficiency. Work closely with the Production Manager to maintain schedules and resolve production challenges. Maintain and refine SOPs for estimating and quality control. Use strong communication and problem-solving skills to reduce delays, rework, and waste. Office management experience in a print environment is a plus. Requirements
10+ years of experience in print estimating, prepress, or press operations (senior-level preferred). Strong expertise in print workflows, substrates, finishing, and color management. Proven ability to preflight files and produce accurate, detailed estimates. Experience with estimating or MIS systems such as Tharstern, EFI, or PrintVis. Hands-on press knowledge, including color approval, registration, and quality standards. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to producing high-quality work. Managerial or team leadership experience is a plus.
