Responsibilities

The Communication Director is responsible for spearheading strategic direction, initiatives and planning, synchronization, and management of a strategic communications program. Responsible for developing long term company strategy and management of communication technology platforms to include, but not limited to company intranet and future platforms. Provides operational management to teams of communication and IT professionals to meet communication and development goals.

Essential Functions Develops internal communications strategies and manages delivery of related communications products for the organization. Manages team of communication professionals to create key deliverables of corporate communication plan, including the creation and execution of Human Resources strategic communications plan for benefits, workers' compensation, general human resources, compensation and HRIS. Develops and leads team that implements the company's internal communications strategy, tools and tactics to drive an engaged culture. Work closely with Operations, Human Resources, Brand and other teams to identify and communicate key messages. Understand and utilize appropriate technologies to promote messaging. Develops, analyzes and delivers long term strategic plans and budgets for companywide communication technology platforms, including intranet, extranet, and future developments. Provides operational oversight of team of communication and IT professionals to deliver products and strategies to meet communication plans related to technology. Evaluates and determines direction of future enhancements and/or products for the technology platform. Is the primary owner of "End User Experience" and how content is developed and delivered to Brookdale associates. Provides tactical direction of IT administrative, development and leadership teams as the BPO on current and future development of intranet and related sites-using experience and knowledge in SharePoint development, administration and related technology. Engages executive and leadership teams to demonstrate identified opportunities to improve associate engagement, company performance, cohesion and culture through the technology platform and otherwise. Impacts company goals and corporate initiative rollouts by creating and ensuring timely execution of communication plans. Demonstrates exceptional leadership, project management, writing, editing and design skills.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Graphic Design, English, Journalism, Business Administration or related field and a minimum of ten years' experience in related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two or more years' experience leading and managing technology and business process teams and projects. Experience working with multiple levels of business leaders and business sensitive information.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience related to the technical structure, requirements, and maintenance of SharePoint development, administration, security, related components and environments. Previous manager experience preferred.

Management/Decision Making

Uses experience to develop appropriate communications strategies and create guidelines and procedures for varied decision making within a department. Uses sound judgment and experience to solve complex problems based on precedent, example, reasonableness or a combination of these. Analyzes options, recommends and sets direction for course of action for maximum impact.
