Position Overview
The company is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead preconstruction estimating activities for large-scale and technically complex construction projects. This role requires a collaborative professional capable of working across multiple stakeholder groups while maintaining flexibility, organization, and strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
The Senior Estimator will oversee the full estimating lifecycle - from early conceptual pricing through final bid preparation - ensuring accurate cost development, effective coordination, and strategic planning aligned with project objectives.
Key Responsibilities Lead estimating efforts for complex construction projects from conceptual phases through final pricing Develop conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, and cost models, including self-perform scopes where applicable Plan and coordinate estimating strategies, schedules, and submission processes Identify and prequalify subcontractors and vendors for bid participation Assign and coordinate work within the estimating team, ensuring completeness and accuracy Perform quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, and evaluation of subcontractor proposals Research applicable tax requirements, labor agreements, permitting considerations, and regulatory impacts Prepare and manage Requests for Information (RFIs) during the estimating phase Maintain ongoing communication with internal teams, owners, architects, engineers, and consultants Ensure alignment and clarity around project scope, pricing assumptions, and estimate updates Analyze historical cost data and benchmarks to support estimate accuracy Support evaluation of building systems, construction methodologies, and estimating technologies Assist with development and coordination of project schedules during preconstruction Mentor and provide leadership to estimating team members, including training and performance support Required Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) Minimum nine (9) years of construction industry experience At least six (6) years of dedicated estimating experience Strong understanding of construction methodologies, pricing strategies, and industry practices Working knowledge of construction law fundamentals and accepted business practices Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills Strong mathematical and analytical capabilities Proficiency with industry estimating tools and software, including: ISqFt ICE / Bid2Win On-Screen Takeoff (OST) Bluebeam or similar PDF tools Google Earth or comparable platforms Valid driver's license required Preferred Qualifications
LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) DBIA certification or similar professional credentials Compensation & Benefits
