Overview

Industrial Designers are formally trained and have a variety of skill sets; they are expected to excel in the product development. Skills include but would not be limited to the following: hand sketching, computer modeling, two dimensional layout, illustration, physical model building and computer rendering. Designers should be articulate, well-spoken and able to manage tasks efficiently. Additionally, they should be able to work with a wide variety of people such as marketers, product managers, salespeople, engineers and manufacturers within a time driven development cycle. In cases, the Industrial Designer may be called upon to engage in field research and collate field results. This position should be able to receive inputs from market research, trends or ethnographic study to help develop their product ideas. Industrial Designers work under the direction of the Director of Industrial Design. The Industrial Designer II (ID 2) is a non-supervisory position but the expectation is that some small projects and tasks would be independently managed with other team members. Responsibilities

Personnel: Works under general supervision Establishes and maintains good working relationships Strives to constantly improve skill sets: illustration, modeling, communication Involved with peers in professional development, classes or associations Works well with others in a team structure Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals Is open minded and creative Manages time and personal work effort effectively Accountable: tasks are understood, completed thoroughly, and on schedule. Deliverables are clearly communicated to team and managers upon completion. Able to be relied upon by team members Research & Development: Assists with research projects: conducts interviews, maintains budgets, distills data sets, and develops insights from data Develops concept drawings and designs from research driven data Supports brand efforts with industrial design, research and computer modeling Attends tradeshows regularly in and outside of the fitness industry Product Development: Sketching, computer modeling, concept renders, and graphics as needed Analysis of human factors and use data Contributes and promotes ideas within the development cycle Quality: Maintains high quality work ethic: clear understandable sketches and illustrations. Productive – delivers a balance of high volume and excellent work. Demonstrates commitment to management system by completion of KPI’s on time or sooner Marginal Job Functions: Other projects as needed. Qualifications

Education: Four year degree in industrial design Experience: 2- 4 years experience within an industrial design environment as a consultant or as an in-house designer Requires evidence of a diverse portfolio Other Requirements: Proficiency in 3D modeling and computer graphics: Illustrator, Photoshop, Corel, Freehand, Rhino, Solid Works, Alias or Form Z, Word Suite. Some domestic travel Some overseas travel Ability to work closely with others and independently Must have extremely good written and verbal communication skills Benefits
