Summer Camp Co-Director

Under the general supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, the Summer Camp Co-Director is responsible for assisting with the daily operation of a recreational summer day camp serving elementary-aged children. The camp program includes indoor and outdoor games, sports and fitness activities, arts and crafts, on-site enrichment programs, field trips, group lunches, and snack times. Job Responsibilities Plan and implement pre-camp activities and daily programming for up to 150 participants. Train, supervise, motivate, and evaluate a staff of up to 12 camp counselors; review performance and recommend changes as needed. Organize staff workloads and daily assignments. Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all participants, staff, and volunteers. Maintain care and proper use of camp supplies, equipment, and facilities. Procure camp supplies, equipment, and snack items as needed. Follow and enforce all policies outlined in camp training materials and City personnel manuals. Manage discipline concerns and respond to emergency situations appropriately. Administer first aid for minor injuries as necessary. Maintain accurate and complete records including employee time sheets, attendance logs, behavior reports, accident reports, medical documentation, and parent communications. Conduct daily safety and cleanliness inspections of camp facilities. Assist with light cleaning duties and the setup and breakdown of tables and chairs. Cross-train and assist at the Splash Pad if needed. Perform other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to work cooperatively with others and interpret policies and procedures. Ability to provide courteous, professional, and effective customer service to all patrons. Ability to respond appropriately to patron questions, concerns, incidents, and accidents. Ability to follow and enforce all established facility policies and procedures. Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Availability to work a flexible daytime schedule, Monday through Friday, from May 11 through July 24 (start date flexible). Camp will not operate June 29July 3. Ability to attend mandatory Summer Camp orientation and training on Saturday, May 16, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Requirements Minimum Qualifications Must successfully complete a criminal background check. Must pass a mandatory drug screening. A minimum of one (1) year of paid or volunteer experience in a recreational camp, after school program, daycare facility, or related youth program is preferred. Previous customer service experience preferred. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must possess current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification, or be willing and able to obtain certification prior to or during employment. Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to perform light physical work, including standing and walking for extended periods and lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to approximately 510 pounds. Work Environment: Essential job functions are performed primarily outdoors and involve regular exposure to varying weather conditions and outdoor elements.
