Shutts & Bowen, a full-service law firm serving clients locally, nationally, and internationally, is seeking a Business Development Specialist in the Orlando office. The Business Development Specialist supports the firm’s growth initiatives by assisting with business development planning, pitch and proposal development, client and prospect research, and opportunity tracking. This role works closely with partners, practice groups, and the Marketing team to convert market visibility into new business and expanded client relationships. The Specialist should be detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, attorney-facing environment. Essential Functions

Assist with the execution of practice group and partner-level business development plans, providing proactive communications and reporting to stakeholders. Support targeting initiatives by tracking priority clients, prospects, and industries. Coordinate activities aligned with firm and practice growth objectives. Assist with tracking business development opportunities in the firm’s CRM system. Maintain accurate pipeline data, including opportunity status and next steps. Support reporting for quarterly BD and firm leadership dashboards. Identify and evaluate opportunities to build the brand of practice groups and individuals in the market (speaking opportunities, sponsorships, conferences, events, media relations, etc.). Maintain and update pitch content, experience databases, and standard proposal materials. Track pitch outcomes and assist with post-pitch feedback collection. Prepare business development materials, including drafting pitches, collaborating with attorneys on proposals, and managing and submitting responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs). Conduct research on prospective clients, industries, competitors, and market trends. Prepare background materials and briefing documents for partner meetings and pitches. Work closely with the Marketing team to leverage firmwide campaigns, content, and collateral in business development efforts. Support continuous improvement of business development processes, templates, and tools. Assist with CRM adoption and data quality efforts. Coordinate with Finance and other teams as needed for reporting support. Coordinate and plan business development events at the firm. Maintain and distribute tickets for client business development experiences. Attend conferences and events on behalf of firm; develop follow-up campaigns with contacts created. Additional tasks as assigned. Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or a similar field. 4–6 years of experience in business development, sales support, or professional services, preferably in a law firm. Marketing experience in the professional services industry. Familiarity with marketing professional services to the public, preferably to law firms, and consistent with attorney rules of professional responsibility. Familiarity with and fluency in various marketing media, including website design, SEO, and social media marketing on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, blogs, online video, and related media. Computer skills, including knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and preferred experience with the Adobe Creative Suite or comparable graphic expertise. Key Skills and Competencies

Knowledge of grammatical rules for the English language and strong spelling skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Strong attention to detail and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from attorneys, clients, coworkers, and the public. Physical Demands

The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must have to perform the essential functions of this job. Lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, typing/using a keyboard, and writing by hand. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
