Overview
Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) in Salem, Massachusetts, seeks a visionary Director of Exhibition Design to lead its Exhibition Design Department. This role oversees the imaginative planning, design, and implementation of changing exhibitions, long-term collection galleries, and public space enhancements. The Director manages a $1-million annual budget specific to design costs and leads a team of seven-eight staff members. Responsibilities
Mentor the design team, serve as Lead Designer for select projects, and collaborate across departments to produce a robust calendar of acclaimed exhibitions within approximately 30,000 square feet of gallery space, contributing to the Museum’s long-term exhibition strategy. Qualifications
Minimum of eight years’ experience in exhibition design. Four years of management and administration experience in a design capacity. Salary range $100,000 – $121,000 plus benefits.
