Provide life-enriching activities to residents/patients and plan, organize, and facilitate a comprehensive leisure program designed to meet interests and needs. Reflect professional standards and the organization’s mission, philosophy, policies, and procedures; work with ill or disabled clients. Plan and participate in specialized games, sports, crafts, and other leisure activities to help restore capabilities or overcome disabilities. Assist in supervising professional and non-professional activity staff and provide oversight, instruction, and guidance to interns; ensure research-based, up-to-date services. Supervise volunteers to create a positive experience for residents, volunteers, and Winona Health. Assess needs and capabilities of each resident/patient to maintain or improve capabilities and enjoyment of leisure pursuits and functioning. Ensure residents with varied needs receive appropriate services to maintain well-being. Organize, facilitate, and record resident-based meetings and events, including within the community. Complete required documentation and maintain records for ongoing program/resident evaluation. Monitor department quality and data to ensure appropriate services and satisfaction; assist the Supervisor with action plans as needed. Participate in Quality Improvement efforts as part of everyday work. Complete and supervise competency testing with the facility bus in collaboration with organization-wide Therapeutic Recreation staff. Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation with 2-4 years’ experience; NCCAP experience, competency and/or training in leadership skills. Strong oral and written communication; comfortable working with ill and/or disabled people. Good understanding of therapeutic recreation standards through professional groups and/or peers. Must complete van competency testing, hold a valid driver’s license, and be willing to drive resident/patient transport vehicle. Maintain competencies in basic computer skills, Outlook, and patient information databases (Cerner, EMR, American Data). Work Schedule
Generally 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday with rotating weekends, evenings and holidays and occasional early morning coverage. Benefits
